As a book lover myself, I obviously hang out with other book lovers. In my experience, people who moon over the look, smell, and feel of books also share a common love for some other items, which make them unreasonably happy. If you are one of these people, you will immediately recognize yourself. If you aren’t, well you may find it just plain weird, but then you probably play fantasy football and I think that’s weird. Que Sara Sara and all that.
So here are the five things that book lovers love that aren’t books:
1. Sharpies – The love of sharpies should have a name of it’s own with an actual definition. Using them just makes me happy, especially the task of outlining. It’s particularly exciting if you can score a pack with a “limited edition” color like Mocha, which I was lucky enough to snag at school supply time this year. Book people love Sharpies.
2. New pajamas - Admit it. When you open a gift and it’s pajamas, (No one should have to buy their own pajamas, especially wives. They should always be a gift. ) you immediately want to run upstairs and put them on. Your brain goes straight to pajama mode, which does not include work of any kind, and should optimally include getting waited on. The happy feelings you experience are completely unreasonable and should be saved for things like jewelry, but you don’t care. That Tweety Bird on the front is totally worth it.
3. Moleskin Notebooks - Even the kind that are all skinny and college ruled with the plain cardboard colored cover are reserved for only the most important information. To Do lists are NOT kept in moleskin notebooks.
4. Post- It Notes – Book lovers also love Post-It Notes and all things related. Not those plain, square, yellow ones. I mean those big ass, bright colored Post-Its that have no possible good use. Also, along those lines are the little arrow stickers, and colored tabs. Book loving folk will buy them and then try to come up with uses for them without looking at the price. Which by the way, if they actually did, they would immediately have a stroke.

5. Diet Coke – Okay, I’m not sure if this is true for other people, but I could not possibly make a list of things I love without including Diet Coke. I would feel like I was betraying someone. If yours is double latte grande with a shot of something, that’s perfect. You have to have something to drink while you are reading and posting in your pajamas.
